     Water is something that cannot be avoided in our daily life. Drinking ,bathing, washing, irrigation are the most common uses of water.I discuss here the importance of drinking water.

WATER
   By definition water is colourless and odourless substance found all over the earth.we can see water flows as liquid in rivers,streams and oceans.We can also see water in the form of ice and vapour.



IMPORTANCE OF WATER IN OUR BODY
     Water is one of the most essential elements for the human body, as it is present in every cell,tissue and organ of the body.It is making up around two-thirds of our body weight.Most of the water is found within the cells of the body (Intracellular) The rest is found in the extracellular space(blood vessels) and spaces between the cells ( interstitial space).



FUNCTIONS OF WATER
•Carries nutrients and waste products-Water flushes toxins and waste from the body.

•Regulates body temperature-Water has the capacity to regulate the internal temperature of the body inresponse to the external temperature.sweat is playing a major role in this mechanism.

•Helping in brain function-Staying hydrated is one critical factor for supporting the brain.

•Act as lubricant and shock absorber in joints-Drinking water can stimulate the production of synovial fluid,reduce inflammation around the joint and encourage the growth of new cells in the cartilage tissues.proper water intake can also support our circulation and immune system

•Plays a role in most chemical reaction-Water is the medium for most chemical reaction in the body.

•It helps create saliva-The saliva is 99% of water.dry mouth is due to the lack of saliva.Saliva is the first defence against tooth decay.by drinking enough water , you help prevent dry mouth and ensure production of saliva.

•Helps to prevent constipation- Constipation is a condition in which you may have fewer than 3 bowel movements a week ,stools that are hard, dry, difficult or painful to pass and feeling that not all stools has passed.Increasing water content can help soften stools and stimulate bowel movements.

•It improves blood oxygen circulation- Blood is about 92% of water and it carries nutrients and oxygen throughout the body.

•It breakes kidney stones- Drinking extra water dilutes the substance in urine that lead to stone.

•It helps boost energy.

•It prevent cancer,acne and skin hydration.

DEHYDRATION
     By medical definition dehydration is the excessive loss of body water. Losing of water from our body occur via urine,sweat and breathing.

SIGN AND SYMPTOMS-Thirst,dry mouth, weakness, darkening of the urine.

    Maintaining "water balance" is important for health.The brain detects when the body is becoming dehydrated and initiates thirst to stimulate drinking.You get most of your water from drinking beverages.such as plain water,coffee,tea,soda,juice etc.Also the moisture content in the foods we consume contributes significantly to our daily total water intake.

The water requirements vary depending on a person's age,body size,gender,and environmental conditions.

Health authorities commonly recommended 8 ounce glasses of water (8*8 rule) which is equal to 2L.
